Dance Masterclass

Date: 13th May 2017 @ 9:54am

On Wednesday 10th May, we had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a Dance Meets Science Dance Workshop at the Whitworth Gallery. We arrived slightly early, but Steven very kindly let us in and took us on a tour of the whole gallery. We all agreed that the Whitworth is a very impressive place!

We then met Emma (a scientist from the University of Manchester) and Jo, our very enthusiastic dance teacher for the day. We learned lots about the brain, and how different parts of it help us with our movement. I was really impressed with how quietly and respectfully 4C listened to Emma, and they asked some great questions!

Next, we had a look at the dance exhibition. We saw live performers doing different dances, listened to some pieces on headphones and had a go at copying dance movements we liked.

For the rest of the day, we were doing a dance masterclass based on some poems from the exhibition. We did a lot of jumping, gesturing, stretching and balancing. It was really great to see the children so excited and willing to try their best and take part. All the children were very well behaved and did some amazing dances! Check out the photos and videos to see some of our moves.

We all had a fantastic day and Jo, Steven and Emma mentioned how impressed they were with everyone's dancing ability and behaviour, which makes us really proud. Well done, 4C!
