The Highwayman!

Date: 12th Jun 2017 @ 2:10pm

The text we are studying this term in English is called 'The Highwayman'. It is a very special kind of poem called a narrative poem- it tells a story and is very long!

I read the poem to the class first. The children really liked the description at the beginning and could picture the scene. The poem fascinated them throughout- at lots of points they gasped and were shocked!

To to really make sure they understood the story, the children decided to act it out. Each team had an excellent narrator, who read the difficult poem with great intonation and expression. I am very impressed with everyone who took part and really got into the story.
