Year 5's topic learning for the first summer half term

Date: 23rd Apr 2016 @ 8:52am

Dear Class 5AT,

During this first summer half term, Year 5 will be learning about rainforests.  The learning challenge will be ‘Why should the rainforests be important to us all?’  We will be learning about; where the world’s rainforests are located; the layers of a rainforest; the different plant and animals that are found in the rainforest; and the effects of deforestation on rainforests.

Check out these websites to whet your appetite and develop your knowledge of rainforests:

Rainforests are extremely important to us.They are important for a number of reasons,these are the reasons.
help stabilize the world’s climate;
provide a home to many plants and animals;
maintain the water cycle
protect against flood, drought, and erosion;
are a source for medicines and foods;
support tribal people; and
are an interesting place to visit.
